Visualise a database schema
Pasting SQL, and exactly what the parser understands.
Open an ER diagram, choose the Shape tool, and click Visualise SQL schema at the top of the panel. Paste CREATE TABLE statements and the tables lay themselves out with their columns and relationships. Each table can then be edited like any other (see Classes and tables).
Nothing is executed. The SQL is read as text and turned into shapes — there is no database connection anywhere in DiagramDock. A DROP statement in your paste is simply not a CREATE TABLE, so it is ignored.
What the parser understands
- CREATE TABLE with column definitions
- Types including length and precision, such as varchar(255) and numeric(10,2)
- PRIMARY KEY, inline or as a table constraint
- FOREIGN KEY with REFERENCES, inline or as a table constraint
- NOT NULL and UNIQUE
Anything else — ALTER TABLE, indexes, views, triggers, CHECK constraints — is reported with its line number and skipped rather than guessed at.
